Our client, an Australian-owned and operated fresh seafood farm, is seeking an Assistant Farm Manager/2IC for their site in Townsville. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team within the seafood industry. In this role, you will assist the Farm Manager and oversee daily operations on the farm.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the team, optimising tasks such as fish harvesting, feeding, and disease management.
- Manage and mentor team members to foster a high-performance and positive culture.
- Implement data collection strategies to improve production and innovation.
- Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Improve efficiency through effective scheduling, rostering, and resource planning.
- Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to maintain equipment.
- Manage procurement of supplies as needed.
- Support recruitment efforts to build a skilled and motivated team.
- Handle after-hours on-call duties as required on a rotating basis.
- Qualifications in Aquaculture Management or a related field (desirable).
- Strong knowledge of aquaculture practices and relevant experience.
- Proven leadership in a safety-focused environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Passion for improving production and efficiency.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
